"Chamber Bucks" are now available |
Beginning February 1st, the Chamber of Commerce will have Chamber Bucks available for sale in the Chamber Office. Chamber Buck will be sold in $10 increments and and accepted by Chamber member businesses. Look for the Chamber Bucks signage so that you know who is accepting Chamber Bucks. This is part of the Chamber's Shop Local campaign. Here's how it works - for example..... Sue Jones come into the Chamber to buy $50 in Chamber Bucks for John Jones for Valentine's Day. Sue gets 5 $10 Chamber Bucks along with a list of current Chamber member businesses to give to John. John takes his Chamber Buck to Four Season's Sports and Outdoors and uses $30 worth to buy fishing supplies. He uses the other $20 worth at Breece's when he takes Sue out to eat. Four Seasons and Breeces later take the Chamber Bucks they received to the Chamber Office and are reimbursed for the full value of the Bucks.

The question of where we shop, and why, has always been a hard one here. On the one hand, two-thirds of our job-holders head out of Hickman County every day for their employment – and how can you reasonably expect them to ignore all the gas, groceries and goodies that they pass on their way back home every day?

On August 26, Chamber members and friends cut the ribbon on the new Information Center, on Highway 46 in Bon Aqua at Coble Realty. Chamber coordinator Wanda Reed, who cut the ribbon, operates the office, which is open from noon to 4 weekdays as a resource for the community and visitors to the area. Thanks to Polly Dyer, Mitzi Goins, John Porch and many more for helping establish this second outlet to serve the community.
