kix96_logoMinnie Pearl and Grinders SwitchThe Grinders Switch Center is located in the Chamber of Commerce on the historic Centerville Square. It features regular entertainment in the "Minnie Pearl" tradition, a radio show , a museum, and a welcome center for the Hickman County area.  (Click for slide show.)

The museum features articles, clothing, and other items from our hometown hero, Sarah Colley Cannon, otherwise known as Minnie Pearl. It also has items from another Grand Ole Opry star from Hickman County, Del Reeves. The museum includes the music of another former member of our community, Beth Slater Whitson, author of Let Me Call You Sweetheart.

What better place to recall Minnie relaying the latest happenings from back home in Grinder’s Switch? She bore gossipy tidbits about relatives and friends—Brother, Uncle Nabob, Aunt Ambrosia, Doc Payne, Lizzie Tinkum and Hezzie, Minnie’s ever-elusive and painfully dense “feller.” When, for example, Minnie suggested to Hezzie that it was time they married, he answered, “Why, who would have us?”

Visitors come from all over the country to see Grinders Switch. As a fan, you can help be a part of keeping the spirit of Minnie Pearl and the place she called home alive. You may send your contributions to:
